It’s been a while since I last posted my favourite flickr photos. Since I discovered Pinterest I often use that in stead of the flickr favourite function. Though I keep enjoying flickr as I see pinterest more as a wishlist platform and flickr as a photography. For sources click on the photographs.

Greetings from my garden this week, except for Tuesday. As you can see, we’re in serious need of a grass mower. So this week I made a picture of my outfit every morning and I realize just now that I’m wearing a lot of black, at least for the bottom part. Black is such an easy color to combine but it can get a little boring in my opinion. Though if you get up at 7 a.m. you tend to choose for the easy option.
I got a little bit style-confused lately. My closet and I don’t always agree with each other anymore. When I watch movies or browse the internet, I get so inspired by the gorgeous pieces but I never manage to find anything as I’m so incredible picky (and my wallet doesn’t approve everything unfortunately). So I tried to combine a lot of clothes I already have though those outfits tend to get a bit messy, something I really don’t like. Well, time heels everything they say so let’s hope my closet and I get zen again.

There are several reasons why I think Moonrise Kingdom will be the best film of 2012 but let me start by telling you how I was introduced to Wes Anderson. Though he makes movies for quite a long time, I’ve only been introduced to him during my minor Visual Culture in 2009. We had to watch two films every week and got loads of tips from my teacher of films we should see in our own time. The Royal Tenenbaums was on that list. And the love for Wes Anderson was born. The perfect styling, beautiful shots, awesome soundtracks and quirky types made me a huge fan.
With me apparently a thousand other people as being a Wes Anderson fan suddenly made you a hipster. That his movies are too pretentious and hipsters are seeing all kind of meaning in his films while he’s using the same technique over and over again. I find such statements very annoying. And not true. I think all of his movies are wonderful in its own way and that it’s great to have such a personal and recognizable style. Besides that I’ve the feeling everyone is put as a stereotype hipster if you match one or more things of the so-called hipster culture. Which means everyone is a hipster these days, so why pretend it’s a bad thing?
So why this film? Well first of all: Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman. The cast includes so many great names, I’m so curious of the great awesomeness we’re about to see on screen. The last film I saw with Tilda Swinton was kind of depressing so it was a nice surprise to see her in the trailer. And of course Bill Murray, he’s always genius in every Wes Anderson film. I’d have to say I miss Owen Wilson…
And ofcourse, the girl!! Her hair, the styling, the make up, she looks amazing. Yes, I’m already looking for a pink dress with a white collar (can’t find it unfortunately) and some knee socks. I love the sixties style and her style in particular is just amazing. Can’t say anything else about it. Please let me know if you find such a dress.

It was around 2005 that I found my interest in fashion. And not per se fashion but I’d rather call it style. What you should wear to express yourself. Quite funny actually as I wasn’t looking particularly different than anyone else but clothes and fashion were a daily business for me. I could take hours to get dress in the morning because I wanted to look exactly as I felt that day. In a certain way, I don’t know how it came, I found myself in a closet filled with dresses and skirts. I figured it was my style and didn’t even bother to look in the section ‘pants’. Though style evolves and I dared to buy my first jeans in years. Still not looking rather different or so but it’s been quite a change to step aside from all the tights and leggings!
The shirt I’m wearing was a real bargain. I got it on Queen’s Day market for only 2 euro’s! It has short sleeves but it was a little bit too cold for that. I’m a real sucker for yellow these days, have to be careful I won’t step outside the door wearing only yellow as I’ve enough yellow clothes to do so these days!

Last week I made a really nice risotto with seafish, using this recipe. I think it was super tasty and easy to make.

What you need: risotto rice, onion (I prefer shallots but they were sold out…), sea fruit, vegetables like carrot, peels and green peas, fish bouillon, cheese (i chose parmesan) and some olive oil.

Step 1: heat the oil and fruit the chopped onion. Add the risotto and stir so the rice will be coated with oil. Cook some water for the vegetables and bouillon in the meanwhile.

Step 2: you can choose now to make the risotto with or without wine. If you do, add half a cup of dry white wine and stir until it’s fully absorbed. Now add a bit of the fish bouillon and wait until it’s fully absorbed. Stir constantly so the rice will not to prevent the rice sticking to your pan. Repeat this until the risotto is done, which is probably after 20-30 minutes. Cook the vegetables in the meanwhile.

Step 3: add everything together and add some parmesan and pepper.

Step 4: mix it all together and the risotto is finished! Add some parmesan and put a little basilicum on top as garnishing. Bon appetit!

We celebrated Queen’s Day last Monday! I started my day on the fleemarket, and I bought a new blouse and skirt for only 4 euros. After that, I met up with Jerry and we had lunch at his place with his girlfriend Hannah. We ended the day laying on the grass, listening to a band called The Beats. I went home around eight because I had to work the next day. Lovely day.
